What is the Coalition?

Originally created as an ad hoc committee under the name, West Michigan Film Initiative Task Force, this group was tasked with undergirding the West Michigan Film Office. However, a more pressing need arose in February, as Governor Snyder called into question our state’s incentives program by budgeting a $25m cap.

With political pressures negatively impacting our thriving industry, we realized that formalizing our organization under a 501(c)(4) designation would give our group the ability to better promote film and digital media as a viable and growing industry in West Michigan.

Our Mission

We seek to encourage economic growth, diversification, and job creation in West Michigan through media production and investment. To ensure a sustainable media culture by supporting programs that advance education, training, employment, and economic prosperity throughout the region.

With political pressures negatively impacting our thriving industry, we are organizing meetings with our West Michigan legislators to help educate them on our industry and the important part it can play in our state’s future.
